Online Somatic & Trauma Therapy in Seattle, WA

Body-centered online therapy for Seattle adults who want to understand their patterns, work through trauma, and feel more connected to themselves.

When You Understand What Is Happening, But Still Feel Stuck

Sometimes insight is not the problem.

You may already understand why you react the way you do. You may recognize the anxiety, perfectionism, shutdown, people-pleasing, overthinking, or relationship patterns that keep showing up. You may even have spent years trying to work through them.

And yet your body still seems to respond before your mind has a chance to catch up.

For adults in Seattle, Jenn offers online therapy that works with both the emotional and physical experience of stress, trauma, and change. Her approach brings together somatic therapy, trauma-informed counseling, mindfulness, emotional skill-building, and modalities such as EMDR, Brainspotting, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.

The goal is not simply to understand yourself better. Therapy can also create space to experience yourself differently.

Somatic Therapy for Seattle Adults

Somatic therapy recognizes that emotional experiences do not exist only in our thoughts.

Stress and trauma may also appear as tension, shallow breathing, restlessness, numbness, fatigue, hypervigilance, physical sensations, or a feeling that the nervous system is constantly preparing for something to happen.

Body-centered therapy creates opportunities to notice those responses with curiosity instead of judgment.

Sessions may involve tracking physical sensations, noticing emotional shifts, practicing grounding, developing greater tolerance for difficult emotions, and recognizing the protective patterns your nervous system has learned over time.

The body is not treated as something that needs to be corrected. It becomes another source of information about what you have experienced and what you may need now.

Trauma Therapy That Moves at Your Pace

Trauma can influence the way a person experiences safety, connection, trust, relationships, emotions, and even their own identity.

Sometimes those effects are obvious. Other times they appear years later as anxiety, emotional shutdown, perfectionism, difficulty trusting others, feeling constantly alert, or reacting much more strongly than a situation seems to warrant.

Trauma-informed therapy approaches those responses differently.

Instead of asking why you cannot simply “get over it,” the work becomes understanding what your system learned in order to survive — and whether those old strategies are still necessary today.

Jenn approaches trauma work collaboratively and carefully, without forcing clients to process experiences before they feel ready.

Grounded

Therapy Modalities Jenn May Use

EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR, uses bilateral stimulation while working with distressing experiences, memories, emotions, and beliefs. It can be incorporated into trauma therapy when appropriate.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting uses points within the visual field as a way of accessing emotional, physical, and trauma-related experiences that may be difficult to reach through conversation alone.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy combines trauma therapy, attachment work, mindfulness, and awareness of physical responses to explore how previous experiences continue to influence the nervous system.

Body Psychotherapy

Jenn's graduate training is rooted in Body Psychotherapy and Somatic Counseling Psychology. This work explores the relationship between emotion, thought, sensation, movement, relationships, and lived experience.

Mindfulness & Emotional Skill-Building

Therapy may also include grounding practices, mindfulness, nervous-system education, emotional awareness, and practical skills for responding differently when stress or strong emotions arise.

Jenn's early clinical work included supporting highly traumatized children and families. She later worked in community mental health and has continued studying trauma, development, attachment, movement, mindfulness, and body-centered approaches to healing.

She received her MA in Somatic Counseling Psychology from Naropa University, where she studied Body Psychotherapy and Dance/Movement Therapy.

Her background also includes years working outdoors as a wilderness and snow ranger and trail crew member. That relationship with the natural world continues to influence how she thinks about resilience, rhythm, connection, and healing.

Jenn has also contributed to the development of EcoSomatic Psychotherapy, bringing together her interests in psychology, embodiment, nature, and human experience.

A Space for Depth, Practice, and Self-Trust

What Therapy With Jenn Feels Like

Therapy with Jenn is active, collaborative, curious, and human.

Some sessions may involve exploring a difficult experience or finally finding language for something that has been hard to describe. Other sessions may focus more closely on body awareness, emotional regulation, relationships, patterns, or practical skills.

There may be reflection, direct conversation, humor, mindfulness, nervous-system education, or moments of simply slowing down enough to notice what is actually happening.

Over time, the work is intended to help you develop a stronger relationship with your emotions, your body, and your own internal sense of direction.
