Online Somatic & Trauma Therapy in Spokane, WA
Body-centered counseling for Spokane adults navigating trauma, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, disconnection, and major life changes.
Sometimes Talking About It Is Only Part of the Work
You can understand a pattern and still find yourself repeating it.
You can know that you are safe and still feel anxious.
You can recognize that a relationship is different from relationships in your past and still find yourself bracing for rejection, conflict, or disappointment.
You can tell yourself to relax while your shoulders remain tense, your thoughts race, or your nervous system refuses to get the message.
This is one reason Jenn integrates somatic therapy into her work with adults.
Online counseling for Spokane clients can include both traditional conversation and greater attention to how emotions, memories, stress, and relationships are experienced in the body.

What Is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic therapy is an approach that includes the body as part of psychological work.
Humans experience emotion physically as well as mentally.
Anxiety can change breathing. Fear can tighten muscles. Shame may cause us to physically withdraw. Anger may bring heat or energy into the body. Stress can leave us restless, exhausted, guarded, or unable to settle.
Traumatic experiences can also shape automatic nervous-system responses that continue long after the immediate danger has passed.
Rather than treating those responses as something strange or defective, somatic therapy approaches them with curiosity.
What is your body noticing? What happens just before you shut down? What tells your system that something is unsafe? What helps you feel present again?
Those small observations can gradually create a different relationship with emotional experience.

Somatic Trauma Therapy for Spokane Adults
Jenn's work is grounded in the understanding that many trauma responses originally developed as protection.
Fight, flight, freeze, hypervigilance, emotional shutdown, dissociation, avoidance, or people-pleasing can all become ways of navigating situations that once felt unsafe or overwhelming.
Those patterns may continue even when circumstances change.
Trauma therapy can help you recognize what your nervous system learned, understand what triggers those old responses today, and build greater capacity to remain connected to yourself during difficult moments.
The process is collaborative and paced. Trauma therapy does not require immediately retelling every difficult experience or pushing through emotional responses before you are ready.
Therapy Modalities Jenn May Use
EMDR Therapy
EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is another approach Jenn may use when appropriate. EMDR incorporates bilateral stimulation while working with distressing memories, beliefs, sensations, or emotional experiences. Preparation and pacing are important parts of trauma work, and Jenn collaborates with clients to determine whether and when trauma-processing approaches make sense.
Brainspotting
Jenn may use Brainspotting as one tool within trauma therapy. Brainspotting works with the relationship between eye position and emotional or physical experience. By noticing what emerges while looking toward particular points in the visual field, clients may be able to access experiences that are difficult to reach through conversation alone. Jenn integrates Brainspotting within a broader body-centered and trauma-informed approach rather than treating it as a one-size-fits-all solution.
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy brings together trauma treatment, attachment theory, mindfulness, and somatic awareness. It can help clients explore the physical patterns that accompany emotional experiences, including posture, movement, sensation, activation, shutdown, and habitual ways of protecting oneself.
Body Psychotherapy
Jenn received her MA in Somatic Counseling Psychology from Naropa University, where she studied Body Psychotherapy and Dance/Movement Therapy. Her training emphasized the brain-body relationship and the idea that emotions, beliefs, relationships, memories, and life experiences are embodied as well as psychological. That perspective remains at the center of her clinical work today.
Mindfulness & Emotional Skill-Building
Not every session involves trauma processing. Therapy may also focus on developing the everyday ability to notice emotions, tolerate discomfort, recognize patterns earlier, ground yourself during difficult moments, communicate more clearly, and recover after becoming overwhelmed. These skills are not intended to eliminate emotions. They can help make emotions feel more understandable and manageable.

Jennifer Beauvais, LMHC, BP
Jenn's earliest clinical work involved children and families who had experienced significant trauma.
She has worked in community mental health settings, including the Children's Behavioral Health Department at Columbia Valley Community Health, and previously worked with young children and families in Boulder, Colorado.
Those experiences helped shape her understanding of attachment, development, family systems, and the ways early experiences can influence adult life.
Today she primarily works with adults, but she continues to view present-day struggles within the broader context of how people learned to survive, attach, adapt, and understand themselves.
What Therapy With Jenn Feels Like
Jenn's path to becoming a therapist was not limited to a counseling office.
She previously worked as a wilderness ranger, snow ranger, and trail crew member and has spent years studying the relationship between humans, movement, nature, mindfulness, spirituality, and emotional life.
She has also helped advance the field of EcoSomatic Psychotherapy.
That background informs a therapeutic approach that can hold both practical psychological work and deeper questions about connection, identity, meaning, resilience, and the experience of being human.
Location and Availability
Jenn provides online therapy for adults living in Spokane and throughout Washington State.
Telehealth can be particularly useful when you are looking for a therapist with specialized training that may not be available nearby or when traveling to another appointment would make therapy harder to fit into your life.
Somatic therapy can also translate well to an online setting because much of the work involves noticing what is happening within your own body and environment.
Jenn's in-person office is located in Cashmere, Washington. Therapy for clients located in Spokane is provided through telehealth.
Insurance and Payment
Jenn currently works with Premera, Regence, Lifewise, and BCBS insurance depending upon the client's individual plan and network.
Private-pay therapy is also available.
Because insurance participation and appointment availability may change, contact Jenn directly to confirm benefits and current openings.
