Online Trauma Therapy in Tacoma, WA
Somatic, trauma-informed counseling for Tacoma adults who want more than coping skills and insight alone.
Trauma Does Not Always Stay in the Past
Sometimes an experience is over, but your nervous system continues responding as though it is still happening.
You may feel constantly alert, easily overwhelmed, disconnected from your emotions, tense in your body, or caught in reactions that seem much bigger than the situation in front of you.
Other times trauma looks less obvious.
It may show up as difficulty trusting people, perfectionism, anxiety, emotional shutdown, relationship patterns, people-pleasing, anger, numbness, or the sense that you are always bracing for whatever comes next.
Jenn provides online trauma therapy for adults in Tacoma and throughout Washington. Her approach combines traditional counseling with somatic and body-centered psychotherapy, helping clients explore not only what they think about their experiences but also how those experiences continue to affect emotions, relationships, and the nervous system.

Counseling May Be Helpful If You Are Experiencing
There is no single way trauma is supposed to look, and there is no one therapeutic approach that works for every person. Jenn's work is individualized and paced around the person in front of her. She works with adults experiencing a wide range of concerns, including:
Trauma, PTSD, or traumatic stress
Anxiety, panic, or chronic worry
Depression, numbness, or emotional heaviness
Grief, loss, and major life changes
OCD, ADHD, and emotional regulation challenges
Mindfulness, embodiment, and self-trust
Emotional “hijacking” or intense reactions
Relationship patterns and attachment wounds
Stress, burnout, and adjustment
Identity, purpose, and life direction
Spiritual growth or existential questions
Psychedelic Assisted Therapy (PAP) integration
A Trauma-Informed Approach to Therapy
Trauma-informed therapy begins from a different question.
Rather than asking, “Why am I reacting like this?” it becomes possible to ask, “What did my system learn from what happened?”
Responses such as fight, flight, freeze, shutdown, avoidance, hypervigilance, or emotional numbness often developed for a reason. They may have helped you survive experiences that once felt overwhelming, unsafe, unpredictable, or beyond your control.
Problems can arise when the nervous system continues using those same strategies long after the original situation has changed.
Therapy can create opportunities to understand those patterns, build greater capacity for difficult emotions, and gradually develop new ways of responding.

Somatic Trauma Therapy in Tacoma
Somatic therapy works with the relationship between emotional experience and the body.
A stressful memory may show up as tightness in your chest. Conflict may cause your entire body to prepare for danger. You may notice yourself holding your breath, going numb, leaving your body emotionally, or feeling an immediate urge to escape.
Those physical responses can provide important information.
Jenn may invite clients to notice sensations, breathing, posture, impulses, emotional shifts, or patterns of activation and settling. The goal is not to analyze every sensation but to develop a greater ability to recognize and respond to what the nervous system is communicating.
Over time, this can help strengthen self-awareness, emotional regulation, and trust in your own internal experience.
Therapy Modalities Jenn May Use
EMDR Therapy
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It uses bilateral stimulation while working with distressing memories, emotions, beliefs, or experiences. For some clients, EMDR becomes one part of a broader trauma-therapy process rather than a stand-alone technique. Jenn may incorporate EMDR when it is clinically appropriate and when the client has sufficient preparation and support for the work.
Brainspotting
Brainspotting is another trauma-processing approach Jenn may use. It works with particular points in the visual field while paying attention to emotional and physical responses. This can sometimes provide another way of accessing experiences that are difficult to reach through verbal processing alone.
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy integrates mindfulness, attachment theory, trauma treatment, and body awareness. Rather than focusing exclusively on the story of what happened, it also explores how experiences continue to influence posture, movement, emotion, sensation, relationships, and automatic reactions in the present.
Body Psychotherapy
Jenn earned her MA in Somatic Counseling Psychology from Naropa University, where her studies included Body Psychotherapy and Dance/Movement Therapy. This background continues to inform the way she approaches counseling. Sessions may combine conversation with grounding, body awareness, mindfulness, emotional skill-building, movement, nervous-system education, or simple curiosity about what is happening internally.
Mindfulness & Emotional Skill-Building
Therapy may also include grounding practices, mindfulness, nervous-system education, emotional awareness, and practical skills for responding differently when stress or strong emotions arise.

Jennifer Beauvais, LMHC, BP
Jenn began her career working with highly traumatized children and families.
Those experiences gave her a strong foundation in trauma, attachment, early development, and the ways people learn to protect themselves within relationships.
Although she now focuses primarily on adults, that developmental perspective continues to shape her approach.
Adult patterns do not appear from nowhere. The way we react to closeness, conflict, care, uncertainty, rejection, and stress is often connected to what our nervous systems learned much earlier.
Therapy creates space to become curious about those adaptations without reducing every present-day struggle to the past.
What Therapy With Jenn Feels Like
Before becoming a therapist, Jenn worked as a wilderness ranger, snow ranger, and trail crew member.
Her relationship with the natural world continues to influence her understanding of change, resilience, cycles, and human connection.
Her additional studies have included movement, mindfulness, spirituality, rites of passage, mythology, and body-centered healing. Jenn has also helped further the development of EcoSomatic Psychotherapy.
Her approach makes room for both practical clinical work and deeper questions about meaning, identity, connection, and what it means to feel fully alive.
